Toob was an 8-foot rowing boat in the Lanehead boathouse in 1928 used by Roger Altounyan:

As a boy Roger Altounyan used to play around in her, with his head alone appearing above the gunwhale and the oars flashing, looking for all the world like a giant water-boatman. (NBUS page 64)

It is not clear whether the name Toob reflects the Northern English rendering of the word 'tub' ('oo' as in 'book') or the American English pronunciation of 'tube' ('oo' as in 'smooth').
