Roger Wardale was a primary school teacher in Sussex involved in athletics. He corresponded with Arthur Ransome as a child in the 1940s. He was one of the founders of The Arthur Ransome Society, and was co-editor of its journal Mixed Moss with Christina Hardyment.

Wardale published Nancy Blackett: Under Sail with Arthur Ransome as well as two photographic books Arthur Ransome's Lakeland and Arthur Ransome's East Anglia.

Wardale died in December 2015 and the Nancy Blackett Trust published this obituary.
