Mrs Lewthwaite

Mrs Lewthwaite used to be Mrs Blackett's nurse, and that of the Amazons when they were young (SA24) & (PM23). She lives in a cottage, which is not far from Beckfoot as Cook (Mrs Braithwaite) runs there to get Billy to drive Rattletrap (PM25). Mrs Lewthwaite often "has a crack" with Mrs Braithwaite (PM23) & (PM26).

Billy, her younger son does odd jobs, eg driving; he likes to wear an old yachting cap and a blue coat when he is being a chauffeur (PM23,25)

Sammy, her eldest son is a policeman. He is described as a "big policeman" when he accuses John of interfering with the houseboat (SA24). In (PM20,21) he investigates the burglary at Beckfoot, and in (WH29) he is called out to look for the missing explorers. He is afraid of Nancy, who threatens to tell his mother (SA24); and in (PM29) the Great Aunt regrets that she cannot have a word with his mother.
