Evgenia Ransome, born Evgenia Petrovna Shelepina, (10 April 1894 - 13 March 1975) was Arthur Ransome's second wife. The Shelepina family came from Gatchina, an imperial town about 25 miles south-west of Petrograd, where she was born (TLEp186).

Arthur Ransome met Evgenia on 30 December 1917. They lived together in Estonia from 1919 to 1924, when they married and moved to England (SFM).

Evgenia appeared as the anonymous Cook in Racundra's First Cruise. The whistle-blowing mate is often considered a prototype for Susan Walker, e.g. by Susan Altounyan (CFTp39).

Evgenia has a reputation of being discouraging about each of Ransome's books based on the mentions Ransome made about her comments in his letters. She deplored almost every book as it was written, only to praise it as his greatest effort to date when it was published (TLE p158).
