Brigit Sanders, born Brigit Altounyan in Aleppo, Syria on 12 June 1926; died Bideford, Devon 13 November 1999. Brigit was a native prototype for Bridget Walker (note the different spelling of their first names).

Brigit Sanders was President of The Arthur Ransome Society for several years before her death, and was referred to as Ship's Granny.
