Amazon is a sailing dinghy with an iron centreboard and a white sail (PM15), supposedly based on the Mavis owned by the Altounyan family, who were models for the Walker family. She features in many of the books.

The Amazons were given Amazon by Uncle Jim "last year" (that is, 1928) (SA10); previously they went to the island in a "rowing galley".

Scarab, thirteen feet long, is designed to be similar to Amazon (PM2}.
